True, 2009 was a post-Olympic year. But for elite runners, there was no letdown, no doldrums. Champions who'd proven themselves to be among the all-time greats managed to become even greater. Others on the cusp of brilliance finally achieved it. New stars emerged seemingly from out of nowhere and one who'd been hobbled came back and had his finest hour in November. And there's vivid evidence that U.S. middle distance and distance running is stronger and deeper than it's been in 25 years.

In his e-mail, he urges athletes to send e-mails to the mayors of the various cities that the race course goes through to support the races along Gulf Blvd. Due to the overwhelming support of local athletes, Chris mentioned that the mayors have received a lot of feedback e-mails from athletes supporting the races and indicated that e-mails to these mayors, although necessary, are no longer needed.
